My uncle is a semi-retired fisherman from Vancouver Island... I LOVE salmon!!! I have made cedar-plank salmon on the bbq but never the oven... is it wise to still soak the plank before baking - just checking - not sure I want a "forest fire" in my oven... thanks for the great recipe!

Hi.... Yes you can do it in the bbq and in this case you need to soak the cedar for about 4 hours and then grill it using the indirect heat method. You don't need to soak the wood in this recipe and the oil coating is just to prevent it from sticking, don't be afraid the wood won't burn, actually there won't be any smoke in the oven just the sweet aroma from the cedar .

Just wanted to let you know this recipe doesn't come up when you search for salmon, maple or cedar on the Rouxbe website! Not sure why it doesn't, but looks like a great recipe.

Hi Rosalie- Thanks for the question. That recipe is among the few that are user submitted on Rouxbe. It comes up in search, but the search tags it as a user submitted recipe - like in this link. http://rouxbe.com/search?q=cedar&type[]=User-Submitted+Recipes
